Even Kim Olim participated in this war of words, âTo make sure everything is fair and square, Iâd better sleep with you.â
âKim Olim, how is that fair and square? Besides, what do you plan to do if his âevil-attributeâ rubs off on you?â
âItâs exactly for that reason I have to do this. I must sacrifice this body in order to see that he no longer has a negative impact on you guys.â
âNoona, how could a man and a woman share the same bed? Even if weâre dead, thatâs no reason to not adhere to common sense, right?â
âBefore being a man or woman, Iâm a Paladin. Of course, if Choi Lee-kyung canât overcome his evil nature and tries to attack me, I can personally âpurifyâ him, so donât worry about thatâŠâ
âThatâs what I mean, thatâs a huge problem? Conversely, if Lee-kyung-ie is to try something, I can just smother him and he wonât be able to overcome me nor move a single inch.â
While listening to this moronic conversation, I grabbed Lackey, who attempted to jump at Seo Dawon, into my embrace and sat down. A sigh involuntarily made its way out of my mouth. If theyâre going to be like this, whatâs the point of buying a new house? We might as well rent a camping ground instead.
In a fit of anger, I first kicked Seo Dawonâs shin to drive the Mage away from me; Seo Dawon didnât budge at first, but soon he let me go. The three that were deep in conversation tightly shut their mouths, as if they tasted something sour.
âI donât need any of that. Iâm going to sleep alone with Lackey. You guys should just sleep together,â I sighed.
However, none of my words seemed to make it through their thick skulls.
On the contrary, as soon as I finished speaking, Jung Garam banged the wall loudly and shouted immediately, âWhat kind of gross thing are you suggesting? Iâve never shared a room with another guy before!â
âIâm a guy too!â I said.
âNecromancer, donât be mistaken. Iâm not proposing to sleep with you for an insidious reason. I just meant to observe every nook and cranny of your body while sleeping.â
âThat in of itself is pretty insidious?â Really, nothing I said seemed to work. Fed up, I turned around and returned to the master bedroom; the three of them crawled after me.
Itâs five times the size of the bedroom I used to live in, so there was plenty of space for everyone. ButâŠwhy was it that I couldnât keep a place of rest for myself in this spacious house?!
Ding Dongâ
It was then.
In the midst of our conflict, the doorbell suddenly rang. I hesitated, wondering who would ring our doorbell when we had only moved here just an hour ago, but Jung Garamâs face brightened considerably, âFurniture!â The treasure hunter shouted.
With that said, Jung Garam quickly made his way to the front door. Kim Olim also turned her back to usâas if she hadnât been attached to her stance in the argumentâand said, âThose could also be mine.â Only Seo Dawon and I were left.
ââŠyou didnât order anything?â
âTheyâll probably bring it all in. Moreover, wonât the delivery people think that the door opened all on its own? Shouldnât you go?â Seo Dawon returned my awkward question with a calm response. I sighed, left with no choice but to follow the two that sped ahead.
ButâŠâŠ
âItâs been a long time, Lee-kyung-ssi.â
In front of the wide open front door was not our furniture, but Koo Hui-seo sitting in a wheelchair.
* * *
Two large suited users, probably Red Dragon guild members, stood next to Koo Hui-seo. In the back, a man of similar size pushed Koo Hui-seoâs wheelchair.
I froze, so utterly surprised at the appearance of the unexpected visitor. However, Koo Hui-seo gracefully crossed the threshold into the house, even though I didnât invite him in, and handed me a large bouquet of flowers that he was holding within his arms.
âI didnât think you were going to invite me to your house soon, but I still wanted to win the title of being your first guestâŠSince I heard you were moving, I hurried on over.â He smiled shyly with his eyes.
God damn it. Why did he come over when he knew I wouldnât extend an invitation? âHaahâŠ.â I failed to keep a straight face and, eventually, sighed deeply. The servants alone were successful in cluttering my mind, and now this lunatic came all the way hereâŠ
âI donât have any furniture or anything right nowâŠYou wonât have any place to sitâŠâ
âIâll be fineâI use a wheelchair, after all.â
Did he expect this situation and brought a wheelchair because of that?
I was honestly annoyed, but I couldnât turn him away. So, I stepped aside.
Then, the large men surrounding Koo Hui-seo moved him from the porch, to the hallway, and finally to the living room. After moving their master, they exited the living room and disappeared out the door.
They probably intended for us to speak comfortably⊠To be honest, I would have felt more relieved if those big guys that accompanied Koo Hui-seo were to stay; I was sorry to see them vanish.
âI was wonderingâŠAs soon as I opened the door, I smelled a stink similar to the stench of a decaying body.â
âThis is Koo Hui-seo? He looks completely different from when I last saw him.â
Of course, my servants were by my side. Jung Garam, in particular, did not hide his hostility exacerbated by his disappointment that the visitor was not the furniture that he had been waiting for. He held his nose, saying that Koo Hui-seo gave off a stench.
However, since I couldnât smell anything, I couldnât help but wonder what exactly he smelled.
Suddenly, I felt Seo Dawon moving behind me. âSummon me, Lee-kyung-ah.â
ââŠâŠ[Seo Dawon].â I should be more relieved once Seo Dawon was summoned. The ghost hesitated momentarily, but was summoned as he was ordered.
As soon as I called his name, Seo Dawon manifested between me and Koo Hui-seo. If it were me, I wouldâve been utterly surprised if someone just appeared in front of me, but Koo Hui-seo did not move. Of course, no friendly greetings were exchanged.
Seo Dawon spoke first. After calmly stepping onto the floor, he lowered his eyes and smiled, âItâs a bit troublesome for you to visit âourâ house without notice like this.â
âSince it wasnât about the contract and about personal matters, I didnât feel the need to tell you. Anyways, weâre meeting soon, right? After all, youâve contacted me about Geum MiyoungâŠâ
âPrivate matters should all the more be managed through meâLee-kyung-ie and I have a special relationship. Moreover, contacting Geum Miyoung should be done through your side first.â
The coldness that permeated through the conversation was as bloodthirsty as the softness of their tone.
I was briefly shaken by Seo Dawon proclaiming our âspecial relationship,â but I couldnât deny it. It could be said that we were borrowing a tigerâs shadow to divert a foxâs attentionâŠMoreover, until recently, I was bothered by Koo Hui-seoâs constant messages.
However, Koo Hui-seo wasnât considered a psycho for nothing. He did not back down despite the Mageâs intimidation and, instead, said, pointing at the flower bouquet, âThatâs an Erica Flower. In flower language, it means âto break, beautiful loneliness.â I chose it because I wanted to improve our awkward relationship.â 1
ââŠ..â
He adopted a uniquely shy look.
Of course, at his explanation, I hurriedly placed the bouquet on the floor with a sour expression. He may have had those intentions when he was choosing the flowers, but, after learning that Seo Dawon and I were living together, did he really have to sit there and explain to us what his gift meant in flower language? Besides, without furniture there was no other place to put it.
As soon as I put down the bouquet, Seo Dawon squashed the stems of the flowers with his boots. He didnât even try to excuse it as a mistake, but audaciously and blatantly did it. I apologized in a hurry because I felt uncomfortable, but Koo Hui-seo slowly blinked his sunken eyes as if to tell me itâs all right.
A stifling silence settled between us. After wringing my hands nervously, I talked to Koo Hui-seo, hoping this would be enough. âUmmâŠâŠ.Anyways, thank you for coming to congratulate us. Well then, see you later?â
âIt hasnât been even 3 minutes since Iâve arrived thoughâŠâŠâ
âShouldnât you be grateful that weâve allowed you to waste 180 seconds?â Seo Dawon said.
âEither way, 180 seconds are still 3 minutes.â
ââŠ..Haah.â
In the end, I sighed for the second time in this conversation. âThen, maybe I can offer a cup of teaâŠâŠâ
âYes. Hibiscus tea please.â
âHibiscusâŠâŠI donât have anything like thatâŠ..I just have green tea bags.â
âI guess thereâs no other choice. Then, Iâll have thatâŠ..â
Even before I was finished recommending which tea, Koo Hui-seo had nodded.
I mean, how can he be so brazen after barging his way in like that? Pressing down my rising temper, I took out the electric pot and green tea bags that I had placed in my inventory. Fortunately, the new house included an island counter, so we could move there for tea.
TL: Bold man that Koo Hui-seo. Heâs probably Seo Dawonâs least fave person right now.
Also, the proofreaders and I were talking and we were making some bets. Our bet rn is that Lee-kyungâs first kiss is going to go to Jung Garam (because the guy takes so many liberties and Seo Dawon lets him lmao)
Footnotes
An erica flower is also called a âheathâ flower in English. Coincidentally, flower languages differ culture by culture. In Korean, it usually means beautiful loneliness, solitude, and soulmateâwhich really does convey what Koo Hui-seo feels and what he wants from Lee-kyung. Coincidentally, in English flower language, Erica means âendless loveâ and âadmirationâ.
