Chapter 189: Withdraw from the Competition
The tall and burly Zheng Jiang stood in front of the team with a frown as he stared at the mess going on in the arena. The three unconscious Melee fighters looked extremely miserable, what more the girl sobbing in the distance.
âYou snatched the weapons of the other teams instead of finding them yourselves? I really take my hat off to you. Everyone else thinks that the more friends you have the more options you have in life. Yet, you actually offend everyone and forged so many enemies.â
Although he sounded calm and gentle, his words were clearly full of animosity.
Gao Junwei sneered. âDo you think everyone has the eligibility to be my friend? Are you guys worthy?â
Xing Lang was furious. Gao Junwei was his former classmate, and when he was in the School Tyrants team, he was rather formidable. However, he had already been kicked out, and yet, he was still that arrogant.
Just as Xing Lang was about to say something, he heard the Melee Awakened, Zhang Huiâs voice coming from the headphones. âXing Lang, thereâs no point in getting into a conflict with them. If you want to fight them, wait until the semi-finals.â
Xing Langâs ârecklessnessâ was enough when it came to dealing with normal teams, but when they were facing a top-notch team like Gao Junweiâs, they definitely couldnât act impulsively!
Zhang Hui went behind Xing Lang and dragged him to the side.
That was what Zheng Jiang intended to do too. Hence, he hurried to help.
Gao Junwei looked at the commander Zhang Mingming and asked, âWhat do you think of this, Commander Zhang?â
Zhang Mingming had memorized the information about all the teams, and while the two of them were speaking to each other, he had already finished analyzing. He nodded and said, âSure, no problem.â
âDid I let you go?â Gao Junwei yelled at Xing Langâs teammates immediately.
The female Rules Awakened of Xing Langâs team had also lost her temper, seemingly unable to stand how arrogant Gao Junwei was. She retorted loudly. âDo I need your approval? Who do you think you are!?!â
Yu Zhen looked at Liu Chang and was just about to say something when she suddenly saw Zhang Mingming raising his fist in front of him.
At the next moment, a team of soldiers scurried quickly from the distance to the passed out students and the sobbing girl.
Seeing this, Zhang Hui hurriedly dragged Xing Lang away while continuously casting glances at Zheng Jiang.
After acknowledging Zhang Mingmingâs gestures, they did not attack Xing Langâs team. Of course, even if they were to do so, it would not be considered a violation of the rules so long as no one was killed. However, Zhang Mingming seemed unwilling to attack in the presence of the soldiers.
The soldiers then left with the injured team members and Xing Langâs team vanished without a trace after Zhang Huiâs strong dissuasion.
âYou and Gao Junwei shall take chase while I and Zhang Weiliang stay here to guard the spoils,â Zhang Mingming said to Yu Zhen.
Yu Zhen was slightly stunned and she thought,
Are we going to split up?
To be honest, she was not worried about losing and was simply just a little worried that Zhang Mingming and Zhang Weiliang would be in danger.
âGo, itâs okay.â Zhang Mingming seemed to see through Yu Zhenâs thoughts and said smilingly, âZhang Weiliang and I will return to the task point with the battle spoils. Weâll be waiting for you there.â
Zhang Mingmingâs choice was very interesting.
First of all, they were rather near the task point.
Secondly, guardians and soldiers were waiting for them at the task point where they would be going with their battle spoils.
Fighting at the task point was prohibited, even though it was not mentioned explicitly in the rules.
However, no students should dare to create trouble at the task point. That was also a form of protection for the dissatisfied Zhang Weiliang and Zhang Mingming.
Zhang Mingming continued, âGao Junwei, donât say a word. Itâs best to use the strategy of a sneak attack during this battle. Make use of your Star Technique, Roar of Fear. The first target will be Xing Lang. As long as he falls, his entire team will fall too. Yu Zhen, take note of that female Rules Awakened. Weiliang and I will be waiting for you guys at the task point.â
Gao Junwei nodded and quickly ran out together with Yu Zhen.
In the deep forest, the Xing Langâs team was still charging forwards and Liu Chang was obviously still upset. He couldnât tolerate Gao Junwei and his teammatesâ arrogance, robbing others of their battle spoils.
âEnough, Liu Chang. Stop nagging,â Zhang Hui said using Beijiang vocabulary which was more expressive. He continued, âDidnât you see how many headbands there were on Gao Junweiâs arm? Didnât you count how many teams he has kicked out? Itâs not like you donât know how competent Gao Junwei is. He may have gone to another school, but would he join a weak team? Weâd better focus on getting a good rank.â
âIâm not looking up to others and looking down on our team, but Gao Junweiâs team should be attacked by Han Jiangxueâs team,â Zhang Hui said coldly.
A ray of lightning suddenly cast down and seemed to explode in front of everyone!
Although it did not explode on everyone, it was very close to them. Hence, they were inevitably affected.
Zhang Hui was the quickest to react and evade, but his expression changed because of his horror.
Dense footsteps could be heard approaching quickly, and Gao Junwei immediately dashed towards them before yelling loudly, âHold it right there!â
It was not an ordinary roar, but the Star Technique, Roar of Fear!
Due to the fact that Xing Langâs team was struck by lightning, their formation was unstable and they also felt flustered and anxious. Hence, Gao Junwei got the chance to barge in.
He seemed to be roaring right in front of them.
In an instant, the four members of the Xing Langâs team were extremely shocked and they panicked as well. Even the brave and unparalleled Xing Lang suddenly felt an urge to retreat.
In the depths of the woods, a tall ponytailed girl was covering her ears with both hands, as if she knew what was about to happen.
Of course, her actions didnât have much of an effect and all she got was some psychological comfort.
Strictly speaking, the Roar of Fear was a Star Technique that only worked within a certain range. Regardless of whether one covered their ears or wore earplugs, they would be frightened by the Roar of Fear as long as they were within the effective range.
Yu Zhen calmed herself down and hurriedly joined the arena, only to see that Gao Junwei had already rushed in.
The sharp Chinese sword was completely lethal.
However, Gao Junwei knew what was going on and didnât plan to joke about his teamâs competition qualifications. Hence, he didnât hit the target with his Chinese sword.
Xing Langâs team did not make any effective resistance at all. Under Gao Junweiâs sneak attack, all of them received a great shock.
Apart from Xing Lang who had a sullen face and was trying hard to maintain his balance, the rest had already turned around and run away.
That was the stark difference between the Star Techniques.
The Roar of Fear made the tall and buff Shield Warrior run far, far away together with Zhang Hui and the Rules Awakened Liu Chang.
The difference was that Zheng Jiang and Liu Chang had already stopped at the instant that they calmed down. Instead, they quickly turned around to give Xing Lang some help.
Meanwhile, Zhang Hui scurried away and vanished without a trace.
âXing Lang!â Zheng Jiang was full of horror, and when he turned around, he saw Xing Lang being smacked away by the sword. His body was covered in blood.
Zheng Jiang subconsciously condensed the ice shield and scurried over.
A ray of lightning and thunder suddenly struck, but the target was not Zheng Jiang. Instead, it was Liu Chang, who had just regained his balance.
In the depths of the forest, Yu Zhen was holding onto an imaginary scepter which had a dark blue gemstone at the top, emitting a faint light.
Yu Zhen was not happy or satisfied when she saw Liu Chang being blasted away by the lightning and thunder. She didnât even have much of a change in emotions because she felt that everything had happened reasonably.
Liu Chang was blown away by the sudden ray of lightning and thunder, which caused his body to turn extremely numb while being shrouded by the blue lightning. Not only did it hurt her, but it also interfered with her bodyâs movements. In fact, it even stopped her from mobilizing the Star Power in her body.
Gao Junwei carried his Chinese sword and charged towards Xing Lang. Without hesitation, he launched another âChargeâ!
âStop it!â Zheng Jiang turned as pale as a sheet and gritted his teeth while looking at Gao Junwei. At this juncture, there was no longer a point in talking about friendship between classmates. Zheng Jiang understood Gao Junweiâs personality and he didnât even think about that.
Xing Langâs face was twisted into a grimace and he tried his best to bear with the pain without yelling.
However, his chest and left arm had already become all mushed up and even his bones were exposed. He was bleeding continuously and the entire scene was rather daunting.
Gao Junwei stood up and placed the sword in front of him. âBe thankful. If it werenât a competition, he would already be dead.â
Zheng Jiang hurriedly said, âLeave this place, weâll withdraw from the competition.â
Gao Junwei lowered his hand and held onto the Chinese sword before using it to raise Xing Langâs skull.
Zheng Jiangâs face grew sullen and he yelled, âStop!â
Gao Junwei said with a smile, âWhat are you yelling for? I like collecting headbands. It would be better if theyâre stained with blood.â
Xing Lang was a bold and courageous guy too. He tried his best to turn over and raised his left arm which was still mobile. He then grabbed the bloodstained Chinese sword with one hand, seemingly not bothered by the fact that the sharp blade was cutting the flesh of his palm. He barked agitatedly. âSneak attack⌠what⌠what do you mean by that!?!â
Before Gao Junwei even responded, he heard a loud scream from behind. He turned around, only to see an arrogant-looking girl with a ponytail holding onto an illusory scepter in her hand and ferociously launching attacks.
âStop, weâll withdraw from the competition. We admit defeat!â Zheng Jiang hollered loudly.
Yu Zhen ignored Zheng Jiang and instead, increased her output of Star Power. The color of the dark blue gemstone on the top of the scepter was even more intense. The lightning seemed to have scattered all over and it even affected the user, Yu Zhen.
However, Yu Zhen didnât seem to feel it, and she couldnât hear Liu Changâs screams. She simply looked at Liu Chang coldly and said, âMind your words.â
Gao Junwei was slightly stunned. He had no idea what Liu Chang said to warrant such an attack by Yu Zhen.
âStop it! YouâŚâ Zheng Jiangâs expression changed. Ever since Xing Lang was driven out of the woods by Gao Junwei, their team had made the deadliest mistake.
The situation was worse than fighting in the arena.
At least, everyone would be mentally prepared and know how they should fight.
Gao Junweiâs sudden intervention and the revolting Star Technique wiped the entire team out.
Where did that damned Zhang Hui go? Damn it.
Zheng Jiang chose to act decisively, and he couldnât be bothered to get into the ranks, because he felt that his life was the most important!

Zheng Jiang took off his headband and pointed the microlens at himself before saying, âTeam No. 41 is withdrawing from the competition. I repeat, Team No. 41 is withdrawing from the competition.â
Gao Junwei froze for a moment. He understood that there was no way they could attack again since Xing Langâs team had chosen to withdraw.
At the next moment, everyone could hear the voice of the referee coming from their earphones.
Yu Zhen flicked her right hand, and the illusory scepter vanished without a trace. She kicked Liu Chang away casually and stopped.
