Di Qiuhe finally was finally spared from sleeping in the study on Chinese New Year’s Eve, he was over the moon.
“We are paying grandpa and Uncle Hu new year’s visit early tomorrow morning, you better behave yourself tonight.” warned He Bai, then he put a plush between them, making it clear that tonight wasn’t the night.
“Good night Childish Di, and happy New Year.” with that He Bai rolled over to the other side.
Di Qiuhe stared at He Bai with those big innocent eyes, trying his luck.
He Bai didn’t turn back and fell for that, he buried his face in the pillow and closed his eyes tight.
“All right, good night puppy.” Di Qiuhe withdrew his gaze , pouting. He rolled under the blanket after he turned off the light.
Five minutes later, He Bai fell asleep, he rolled back and put his head on Di Qiuhe’ arm habitually, they had been cuddle sleepers for so long.
Di Qiuhe opened his eyes with satisfaction, seeing He Bai who was sleeping like a baby on his arm, he curled his lips and rolled to He Bai’s side. With a big smile Di Qiuhe fell asleep too.
“Bai, wake up.”
He Bai opened his eyes with efforts, he looked around with confusion, “Wait! Where are we? Why am I in a car? Wait, aren’t we going to grandpa’s house and send new year greetings to grandpa and Uncle Hu? Where are we going now?”
“To that town in D Country, as we said before, we are going to that town every season to capture different beauty.” said Di Qiuhe, with that he produced a hot towel and handed it to He Bai to wipe his face.
“Don’t worry puppy, I got it. Just enjoy your new year surprise.” coaxed Di Qiuhe, “Come, have some breakfast, we will arrive the airport soon.”
He Bai was completely dumbfounded, he checked the time on his phone, it was seven a.m. He pressed his forehead, “Qiuhe, I appreciate all this, but grandpa is still waiting for us, are you sure... ...”
“Aha, don’t worry, grandpa knew this, he is part of this surprise of course. He went back to his hometown with Uncle Hu, he misses his old friends. He did ask us to take a lot of pictures for him.” Di Qiuhe comforted He Bai, then he passed He Bai a tupperware, “Here, have some breakfast first, this is your favorite seafood porridge, not sure it travels well or not though.”
He Bai smelled the aroma as soon as he opened the lid, with that aroma He Bai’s belly growled.
Di Qiuhe took a look at He Bai’s belly and laughed, “Puppy, why are you so adorable?”
He Bai blushed a little, but he appreciated this new year surprise so much that he decided to let Di Qiuhe go on laughing at him. Plus, he was too busy enjoying his porridge to have time settling scores with Di Qiuhe.
“How long are we going for?” asked He Bai with a mouthful of food.
“Half a year.”
“Half a ... year?” He Bai asked, eyes wide open.
Di Qiuhe leaned forward to He Bai and stole the shrimp on He Bai’s spoon, “It’s gonna be like an extended version of our honeymoon. Look, you are graduating soon, Sister Li told me you are going to have your own studio after you graduate, you are going to be very busy. I will be busy with ‘Wolf Venom’ for the latter half of the year too, so, I figured we’d better have our honeymoon now when we both have time.”
He Bai found that very sweet, but he had a few questions, “But how about grandpa? How about the Qin Family?”
“Uncle Hu will take good care of grandpa for us, and we’ve got Shaofeng to help us. I told Junjie about this plan as well, he will keep an eye for the school, he will help you take care of the forms and stuff, all you need is to come back to Q University in June for your graduation ceremony, see, I got it all figured out.” explained Di Qiuhe.
While He Bai was still digesting this surprise and not eating, Di Qiuhe took over the tupperware and started to feed He Bai.
“But... what about Sister Li...” asked Di Qiuhe.
“I’ve got that covered too, she is going to hire people for your own studio while we are away.” Di Qiuhe said that with a big smirk, “Therefore, my dear bosslady, please make sure you are going to take tons of beautiful works in our honeymoon, Sister Li is going to use them to lure people.”
The porridge was tasty, the lover was considerate, the new year surprise was great.
He Bai leaned towards Di Qiuhe and kissed him, “Childish Di, no wonder you did not resist it when I asked you to sleep in the study, you have been plotting this.”
Di Qiuhe put He Bai’s head on his shoulder and asked back, “Do you like my plot though?”
“You take a guess... ...” He Bai raised his head and looked at Di Qiuhe, “Of course I like it, I like it a lot. Thank you, Childish Di.”
Di Qiuhe chuckled, He Bai’s smile was all he asked for.
The nursing home where Di Bian resided became more quiet as the working staff were rotating shifts due to Chinese New Year.
“Isn’t it just wonderful to be rich? Look at that mansion over there, all the working staff are rotating shifts in other buildings, but they hired more people in that mansion, I heard they even hired a chef for a new year feast.” said a cleaning lady to the other one, “How I wish I could have a chef at my house one day, even it’s just one day.”
“This is all fate!” the other cleaning lady lowered her voice and continued, “Do you know who was living in that mansion? He used to be a rich man who owned a big company, but he murdered his wife and remarried a woman who cheated on him, and he went mad, some karma, right?”
