Chapter 3 In the Beginning, God Created the Template (Part 1 of 2)
Part 1
âIâm sorry.â
âOhâŠâ
It was after school and the rays of the setting sun shone through the arts classroom all the way into the corridor.
âIâm really happy that you feel that way, Senpai.â
âAh, erm, yeah.â
Eriri stood there, her blonde hair glowing with an aura of radiance in the sunlight. Objectively speaking, her hair was just a genetic trait she had from birth. However, at the moment it was really giving her a strong presence in the room.
âItâs just that Iâm currently preoccupied with the upcoming exhibition, soâŠâ
âA-ah yeah! You were going to try for the top spot for the second year in a row now. Sorry for asking you during this difficult timeâŠâ
âAh no, thatâsâŠAnyway Iâm really sorry about this.â
However, I already knew. SheâŠshe wasnât someone who would be troubled by a mere student exhibition.
Even if it was for the cultural festival or a deadline at the printers, if she wasnât satisfied with the quality of her work, she had the courage to push back those deadlines to another time.
âWell then, I suppose this is something Iâll just put on hold for now.â
âYeahâŠâ
âWhen the exhibition is over, could you reconsider what Iâve just asked?â
ââŠâ
âI guess itâs too much to ask then?â
ââŠâ
âSa-sawamuraâŠsan?â
And so, I knew. Eriri, in the midst of her silence, was diffusing that pulsating, irrational rage of hers.
â»
ââŠAre you there?â
âYeah.â
The setting sun was rapidly falling toward the horizon, and its rays no longer shone far enough to reach the corridor through the arts classroom.
As the sun set, so did the spirits of the foolish and reckless Senpai, who had been rejected in a most thorough manner by Eriri. After five minutes of his rejection, the Senpai, with his shoulders slumped, slinked out of the arts classroom.
Meanwhile, without noticing his dejection, Eriri, looking completely unfazed by the incident, quickly tidied up the paints in the room, locked the door to the prep room, and finished the last of her preparations to go home, humming unconcernedly as she left the arts room.
âAh Tomoya! Did you hear all that?â
âYes. It was a bit of a coincidence, I suppose.â
âSo when did this coincidence start?â
âWell, it was upon hearing, âSawamura, thereâs something really important I have to discuss with you no matter what.â Somewhere along those lines.â
âOoh, you might claim such a thing is a coincidence, however one would say that playing around by spying on someone like a peeping Tom from start to finish is a most repulsive hobby.â
âFor some reason, when you speak politely like that, I donât understand you at all.â
Along with her strangely expressed words, the tufts of Eririâs golden hair were gentlyâŠwell, fluttering, with a bit of a buzz about them. The force of her twintails twirling was beyond belief.
âSo, what is it? If thereâs something you want to talk about, please make it brief. Oh look, thereâs no time left. Well, see you later.â
âSo youâre telling me to say what I want in 0.5 seconds when youâve already taken 0.5 seconds to say that!â
âI heard everything you wanted to say yesterday. And I said everything I wanted to say yesterday. Is there really any room left for this conversation to continue?â
I suppose today is what youâd call the future of yesterday.
Yesterday, I took some mighty criticism. Now itâs the present (Prologue) day.
âUm, itâs just that after hearing your opinions on the plan, I went ahead and revised it. So this time round I wanted to summarise and explain some of the pointsâŠâ
âIâve said everything I wanted to say yesterday, didnât I just say that?!â
âOoh!â
A twirling, whizzing lash of twintails came at me, a sign of Eririâs stubbornness in refusing to talk. The swishing of her twintails managed to hit my cheeks. It stung in a ticklish way.
âAnd besides, what on earth is a talentless person like you, who canât even accomplish anything by yourself, doing calling yourself a director and running around with a net trying to ensnare members? Not only do you want us to listen to your story, youâre also expecting us to work with you for free arenât you? And on top of that, you keep spouting all this hot-headed nonsense when we all know that weâre all going to end up accomplishing nothing anyway. Lastly, you should know that the thing I hate the most is when guys just start persistently trying to recruit me the minute they know Iâm a girl.â
âOn top of your line being excessively long, arenât you thinking a bit too exclusively of your own experiences here?â
Did something happen in the past
âAnyway, because of all the unpleasant memories youâve brought up, Iâm going home. Iâm going to go home, sleep, and forget it all.â
I guess something really did happenâŠ
âWell then, see you next week.â
âAh, wait a bit.â
âWhatâŠis there still something you want to talk aboutâŠ?â
âI finished âthatâ, and Iâve brought it here today. So how about going for a change of pace this weekend and trying it out?â
ââŠLater.â
Did she not understand those final words of mine
With an air of authority as always, Eriri departed down the corridor, holding her dignity aloft as she strode down its very centre, her royal path.
ââŠLater.â
Sawamura Spencer Eriri,
the ace of the Arts Club and the number one famed, fake princess of the academy. It seemed she was also in a bad temper today.
