âYes, training in the forest makes me feel better.â Sigrid laid out the excuses she had prepared in advance.
âWell, thanks to you, I survived.â
In response to Seriosâ answer, Sigrid knelt down on one knee and bowed her head. âIt is an honor to meet you, Your Highness the Crown Prince. May you have the endless blessings.â
âItâs kind of funny to be greeted like this.â Serious sighed lightly and ordered, âget up.â
Serious was curious about the identity of the knight in front of him, but that was for later. He then turned to Veramood. âIâm so relieved that the third and fourth monsters wonât come out.â
âLetâs get out of here before that.â Veramood said firmly.
The injured men groaned quietly. The number of dead soldiers was also considerable.
âThe Marquis of PiennaâŚ.â
âI donât care.â
Serious frowned as Veramood spoke as if cut off his words.
âThe horses are running away, there wounded are many, so how are we going to get out of here?â Serious did not contradict Veramoodâs words and pointed out the reality.
Veramood looked at Sigrid. âHorse.â
âWhat?â
âYou wouldnât have walked all the way here, would you?â
âWell,â
Sigrid lowered her hand as she was about to call her horse, and Veramood turned around too.
Serious asked softly. âWhat?â
âGet back to the carriage, Your Highness.â
Serious reluctantly got back on the carriage after hearing Sigridâs words.
Veramood whispered to Sigrid. âHow many?â
âFour, five, six, seven, maybe ten.â
âSigrid.â
âYeah?â Sigrid listened. Lift? Right? Which one will she take?
Veramood leaned his torso closer to Sigrid and whispered into her head. âIâm glad you came.â
â!!â
His breath reached her ear, and Sigrid squinted her eyes and glanced back at Veramood. He was smiling at her.
Sigrid ignored him and raised her voice. âGather the wounded behind the carriage. Let those with intact limbs protect the wounded. We will take the enemies.â
âHey, do you know that the person who gives the orders is me? Iâm the leader. Itâs me.â
âThe leader of this place is the crown prince. And I also have the authority to give orders to soldiers.â
âBut Iâm the only one who can command you.â
âYou seem to keep taking out his highness the crown prince.â
âAnyway, youâre now my subordinate.â
âThatâs right. Itâs temporary.â
âWhat?â Veramood laughed.
Sigrid looked at her sword, where the monsterâs blood had begun to dry out. âIâve paid off all my debts with this.â
âWhat?â
âI will give back my temporary position when this situation is over.â
âWait, you really decided everything at your own discretion.â
âTheyâre coming.â
Veramood clicked his tongue. But he was also aware that the enemies were coming.
Veramood, followed by Sigrid, began to walk away from the carriage. They walked for a quiet distance so that the aftermath of the fight did not reach the carriage, but they were still in a radius where they could protect the carriage if something happened.
âThat one talent.â
His personality was annoying, but she had no choice but to acknowledge his abilities.
Sigrid swallowed her dissatisfaction and looked at the running enemies. Their whole body was wrapped in black clothes, but the weapon they were holding was not cheap. Those ten enemies all wore the same clothes and carried the same weapon. In addition to that, their attack wasnât like how gangster fight. Their ability was like a trained fighter.
âAre they bandits?â
If there were bandits like these in the Empire, someone should seriously advise His Majesty to mobilize the entire Knight Order to subdue them.
Sigrid clicked his tongue and adjusted herself to Veramoodâs move. She fought him hundreds of times in the past. Because of that, she was accustomed to the way he fight, which make her have no difficulty matching his move.
It was Veramood who was surprised.
âItâs comfortable.â
It was the first time they were working together. However, even though it was the first time, he felt comfortable, as if they had been working together for a long time. Her sword came in and out where and when he wanted. When he turned his body, that sword knew what it should be done. It was a thrilling feeling. The fight was really enjoyable even during the battle, laughter came out of his mouth.
After slashing the last person, Veramood took a deep breath and looked at the swordâs blade. It seemed like she had to change the sword.
âThese people must have come on horseback too.â
Veramood laughed. âThey must be. But Sigrid.â
âYes?â
âDonât we get along very well?â
Sigrid wanted to say âNo, it was one-sided tailored by me. Itâs my ability.â but she didnât dare to say it. Because she couldnât imagine the reaction she got later.
Veramood opened his mouth with a serious face. âDonât you think, weâll get along well on our bed?â
Sigrid opened her mouth for a moment, then recalled Marisuezâs advice. âDonât, Sir.â
âHuh?â
âDonât do this.â
ââŚ.â
Veramood opened his mouth slightly, then began to laugh crazily which made Sigrid wrinkle her forehead.
Veramood then chuckled while he retrieved the enemies; horses. He thought he would be fine for a while, yet he couldnât help but burst into laughter again as he tied the horse to the carriage.
As they entered the capital, Sigrid said, âfarewell, Sir.â
Then she looked straight into Veramoodâs eyes. âThank you for the temporary appointment, Sir. Lunatil. I give back the honorable position to you, Sir.â
After saying firmly, Sigrid turned around and walked away.
Veramood chuckled, muttering, âOh, what shall I do? I really donât want to miss her.â
He took a deep breath. The smile faded from his face, and a brief feeling of fatigue flashed through him. Now he has to send the Crown Prince and his wife back to the palace, leave the injured soldiers at the infirmary, and do a bunch of paperwork for the dead soldiers. It was painful to lose soldiers in an unexpected situation. Serios would compensate them generously. No, it was not compensation, but a consolation. Nothing could compensate for death.
âItâs going to be a long night.â
Veramood sighed.
