When I think about the scenes in this chapter, it feels so short. But then again, novels having the limitations of only using words to have to go through extra descriptions.\n
Also, I was wondering how the author would handle the ‘Chappie, stay back and protect Ruri’ scene, but as expected, he was also sent out to fight, huh.\n
Is this considered a spoiler even though you guys haven’t read it yet? Hmm… 🤔🤔🤔\n

<hr class="wp-block-separator">\n<h1 class="has-text-align-center">Offense and Defense</h1>\n“These monsters are my comrades. They won’t hurt you. So I’d like you to rest assured.”\n
“There’s no way I’d believe such words!”\n
That’s quite the stern girl.\n</ins>\n\nIf I moved even a little, she’d scream ‘Don’t move! You monster pawns!’ with her teeth fully visible in open hostility. Well, no matter how sharp the arrows are, I think I’d be able to receive them just fine though.\n
Even so, I’m just a passing Monster Tamer traveler, not the subordinate of monsters.\n
I’d like it if she understood at least that much. But it’s impossible, huh. Guess I should try showing some hostility too, then.\n
“Umm……”\n
“I won’t let you enter this village! I’ll protect this place!”[1]\n</ins>\n\n“I wonder what I should do……”\n
I scratched my head.\n
The girl had yet to fire the arrow at me. She’d probably start relentlessly shooting once I unleashed my unbound hostility.\n
But for now, we were in the situation of her simply pointing it at me. There might actually be room for negotiations.\n
“——!”\n
“Hm……?”\n
“So they’ve come again! Those guys!”\n
“Huh?”\n
For some reason, the girl pointed her arrows towards the forest behind me rather than at myself. She looked quite restless about it.\n
And since she also remained vigilant towards me[2], I didn’t get to infiltrate the village right away. On the contrary, if I did enter the village as I pleased, then I see nothing but the certain future of her shooting the arrow from behind me.\n</ins>\n\nFor the time being, when I tried to verify what she was alert against in the background…\n
There was a pack of beasts flocking around, growling and the like.\n
Dogs with bodies smaller than wolves, bore their sharp fangs in the open. But the miasma that exuded from them was that of monsters. With their jet black fur standing on ends, their numbers reached about a hundred of them.\n
Since they looked much more ferocious than regular dogs, but didn’t possess the high class of wolves, then they’d pretty much be somewhere along the lines of the monsters called Wild Dogs. Over the five years I’ve spent on journeying since I was fifteen years old, I’ve probably kicked about a thousand of them to death. That’s just how weak they are. Even if they came in a pack of a hundred of them, it was no problem.\n
“Haah!!”\n
After the girl released an arrow, it shot through the group of Wild Dogs. And just like that, the leading Wild Dog at the front had fallen.\n
That was some frightening accuracy! I might even call it terrifying! Her Class would probably be a ‘Hunter’ or an ‘Archer’[3]. I’ve heard that elven archery was awesome but to think it was to this extent.\n
However, among the hundred of them, she got just one. With a bow and arrow, she won’t be able to get more than one of them with each shot.\n
Among a pack of Wild Dogs, losing one member had no effect since… continue reading.\nLike this:Like Loading...\n</ins>\n
