Syuuji Kitahara(北原修司): Yukiya’s father, and owner of the Snow House.(雪乃亭) Which is located in Hyousei Village(氷清村)

Yukino(雪乃): Yukiya’s mother, and is a snow woman/ Yuki Onna.

Hazuki Natsumi(夏美) and Saeki Tomonori(智則): Yukiya’s friends and classmates.

Kouko(凍子). The evil young Yuki Onna. Sharp eyes, and long black hair.

Hyosei Mountain is often said to never lose it’s snow, no matter what time of year.

There is snow on top of the mountain, even during the summer. And when it becomes winter, everything is completely covered in white.

The mountain’s rivers and lake freeze. As the forest becomes covered in a white sheet of snow.

Yukiya’s mother, Yukino. Was alone in her usual kimono as she slowly walked the craggy mountain range.

During the winter, visitors seldom explore the mountain range. So she had no need to fear about running into them.

“Ahh.”

She began to effortlessly climb up the cliff..

This area is infamous for it’s rocky climbing. Especially during the winter when it is slippery. Only high class climbers are able to handle it. But that is for humans.

As it is natural for birds to fly in the sky, it’s natural for a Yuki Onna to cross and climb the mountain.

Before long, she effortlessly reached the peak.

“Hmm, today’s view isn’t nice.”

You could see as far as the eye can see when it’s a clear day with no clouds.

And when it’s cloudy, the sea of white would often spread out into the horizon. Some humans have managed to reach this superb view, but right now the weather is unstable, so no one came.

In fact the black clouds were already approaching. Like an army of darkness, the clouds spread and crept from the horizon.

As the seeds of flowers and plants await for spring underneath the snow.

From time to time, you can find hibernating animals, and insects in the soil.

The surface was iced, but underneath the fish could still be seen.

It was impossible to get bored.

“Everything looks good. . .If that’s the case, everyone is likely to enjoy spring.”

The mountain was still deep in it’s long slumber. Waiting for spring to come and life to begin once again.

The silence filled the air in winter, but the mountain began to become lively in the spring.

The snow maidens of Hyosei Mountain guide the end to rebirth for the mountain’s inhabitants through such a time.

Although humans may have a fear or terrible image of death. They do not understand the natural role that it has.

It is said that is the reason that Yuki Onna’s form is female.

However Yukino herself doesn’t know when she appeared on the mountain, or why- – –

She contemplated it while lying down on the snow for a while.

“Ara?”

It was then Yukino felt someone approaching.

“It’s rare for somebody like you, who hates human beings, to come to such a close spot to the village.”

After saying that, Yukino got up and looked towards her visitor. Stretching while did.

There stood another snow woman. A young woman dressed in an identical white kimono and red belt.

Her eyes were sharp as her black hair fluttered. Her eyes pierce in contrast to Yukino’s which shine.

“Aah. I heard about that. But my child would never do something like that. Are you sure it was her?”

Yukino gave a good chuckle, but Reiko simply glared.

“Don’t give me that crap! My daughter came back crying because she was attacked by a female monkey. . .My cute Kouko- – -The day she was going to be recognized as a Yuki Onna. . .”

“Oh, but it’s not good for a parent to get involved in a child’s quarrel.”

Yukino simply folded her arms, as she was not convinced.

“Is the damage even that bad to warrant this? Eh, Reiko.”

Reiko simply stood firm as her anger swelled deeper.

“You ignore the conventions of the mountain and live as you please in the world of those humans. . .Must you face punishment again?”

“Oh, but where are the laws. . .What about those fundamental rights?”

“La. . .ws?”

“Laws are the constitutional system that defines the freedom and rights of a person. And where in that law does it state you cannot decide on your own to marry and live with a man?”

After that exchange, Reiko got even more heated.

“Those are human “laws”! We are Yuki Onnas. . .We follow the rules of the mountain.”

“I don’t think it’s Reiko’s decision to make.”

“You’ve been corrupted by those human trash.”

“Ah~. Reiko. You are so stubborn.”

Despite the cold, it was getting heated around them.

“But ~. . .I’m more surprised that Reiko had a child with a human, eh Reiko?”

It was then that Yukino’s counterattack began.”

“Grr.”

Yukino’s first attack hit hard.

“What was the relationship between you two? What motivated you to put aside your pride? Were you lovers? Did he propose?”

It was then cold air covered Reiko’s body in a smoke of snow, and the next moment. She was gone.

“Hmph, next time I’ll beat you at your own game again.”

She stuck out her tongue towards the now gone Reiko.

Then threw herself back down on the fresh snow, to rest once more.

“. . .It’s fine now, but Yukiya will have to decide. . .someday. . .”

New chapter out, and this one was a fun one. Well fun to translate. I like this new villain being introduced, but I honestly thought there was going to be a fight. I wonder if they were friends in the past, but broke off. And who is this mysterious person? Who is the father? We’ll have to wait and see, on the next chapter. Or much later. Probably later, and it’s probably the head of that big company.
