I read this via machine translation and still I felt the excitement and tension of the novel although the translation was rough. IT IS GOOD and gets better...I can't wait to reread with the proper translation. It is a good revenge story-the female lead is decisive, swift, and smart. Her skills improve gradually so she doesn't start out all amazing at the get go, the saying is, there is always someone stronger so she aims to be the best. She is not a white lotus flower nor does she whimpers away at failure. The interaction with her and her son is SO CUTE. And the interaction with the Emperor with the son is hilarious.
Spoilers at your own risk.
The Emperor
Spoiler
It is hilarious that we know he is obviously the father but he doesn't know it himself and kept cursing at the "father" of Xiaobao. He is very attached to JMY and shamelessly cute in his manners of wooing her. Later in the next realm I did feel he was a bit possessive but hey, the second male lead is a threat to him. And no, at 1576 chapters, he is only suspicious that Xiaobao may be his son and having vague memories of the incident in the cave five years ago which he thinks is a dream.
Second Male lead:
Spoiler
No, it is not Chang (?) - reminder of who he is : one of the ex s*aves from Ghost city battle arena who served under Xiaobao's group (the first group established by JMY). But I felt his story ended abruptly and he was so devoted to JMY. The second male lead doesn't appear until the next realm and his background story is sad. But he is powerful but doesn't flaunt it; very low key. I don't want to spoil further on him.
The tension right now which I am itching the plot to get to:
Spoiler
around at 1000 chapters, she and Xiaobao transcended to the next realm and are separated for 400+ chapters!!! Basically she is "weak" again and has to get stronger for Xiaobao to find her. I didn't like that Xiaobao was barely mentioned for 200+ chapters. Jun Mu Yan has to cultivate and the setting is a "school system". At first it was boring for 100 chapters because she is starting low again, but once the battles start, JMY is getting rather "infamous". She has to spread her name far and wide so that Xiaobao can come to her bc she tried to find him but no avail. I felt it was similar to Harry Potter-ish - except the dean is evil and buried a huge secret at the college/island JMY enrolled. I feel the story of her parents are coming on stage soon.
Enemies:
Spoiler
New realm, new rivals/enemies - plots gets better. The deal with that Gong princess was splendidly ended before the next realm...
What I didn't like about the villains
Spoiler
Most of the male villains threatened JMY to sleep with them and they will spare her because she gives a weak vibe. It does get repetitive. But it also feels good for their ass to be kicked afterward by JMY. She fights her own battles, not letting the Emperor protect her. The females see the Emperor and want him and blame JMY for ruining their "love" with him. At 1576 chapters, the authors introduced a funny twist on one the "rivals" of JMY and it is quite cute.
